Copperbelt PS warns councils against illegal land allocation

Zanis-Copperbelt Permanent Secretary BRIGHT BRIGHT NUNDWE has warned councils on the Copperbelt against illegal land allocation.

Mr NUNDWE says Town Clerks in various councils have the responsibility to ensure that they direct their Juniors to make random checks in their towns and stop those constructing illegally.

He says it is sad to see people’s houses being demolished because they illegally built on land that does NOT belong to them.

Speaking in Ndola when he addressed Directors of finance  and Town Clerks from  all the ten districts on the Copperbelt Mr NUNDWE said the councils are the custodians of land in their districts and must ensure they put an end to the illegalities in land allocation.

And the Permanent Secretary has directed councils to unblock all drainages and heaps of garbage in market places before the onset of the rains.

He said it will be expensive for government to handle disease outbreaks when something can be done now.
