COPPER QUEENS WORLD CUP SQUAD NAMED

Zambia Women’s National Football Team Head Coach BRUCE MWAPE has named a 23-woman squad for the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The squad has been headlined by skipper BARBRA BANDA, who is expected to captain the squad and MADRID CFF duo of RACHEAL KUNDANANJI and AFCON Bronze-winning Captain GRACE CHANDA.

The Copper Queens trainer has also named the Zambia Women’s Super League top two scorers XIOMARA MAPEPA and OCHUMBA LUBANJI, while AVEIL CHITUNDU has returned to the squad since missing the South Korea trip earlier this year.

MWAPE has returned the Goalkeeper trio of HAZEL NALI, CATHERINE MUSONDA and EUNICE SAKALA.

The midfield has been headlined by wonder kid EVERINE KATONGO and Khazakstan-based IREEN LUNGU.

Meanwhile, MARGRET BELEMU, MARTHA TEMBO, LUSHOMO MWEEMBA and AGNESS MUSESA who were instrumental at the World Cup Qualifiers in Morocco last year have been named in the defense.

The Women’s FIFA World Cup is set to begin on the 20th of this month with the Copper Queens set to play tournament favourites Spain in their opening game three days later.
