Copper Queens assistant coach declares team ready for COSAFA

Zambia National Women’s National Team assistant coach Beauty Mwamba has declared Shepolopolo ready for the 2019 COSAFA women’s Championship.

Mwamba told the Zamfoot Crew in an interview that despite foreign-based players missing the current squad available will do it’s best at this years COSAFA Women’s Championship.

“We started training on Monday with 26 players in camp after replacing some of the players who won’t be with us such as Babra, Misozi, and Rachael, so we have summoned Thandiwe Nkhata from Nkwazi bringing the total of goalkeepers to four but we should be going with twenty players,” She said.

Beauty Mwamba added that despite finishing fourth in the 2018 edition the team will work hard to find themselves in the final.

“The team has been training hard and ready to perform because we need to do better than we did last year if we can reach the finals that will be good for us, we do not have any injury Concerns all the players are ok,” She said.

The senior Women COSAFA Championship event will run from July 31-August 11, and the Under-20s from August 1-11.

Zambia has been drawn in Group B at the senior championship and will open their campaign against Mauritius on August 1. They will then take on Namibia two days later, before a meeting with Botswana on August 6. Only the top team in each pool and the best runner-up advance to the semifinals.
