COP SHOTS COP

A Police Officer has shot and wounded a fellow officer in Lusaka, after the two had a misunderstanding.

Police Deputy Spokesperson, DANNY MWALE confirmed the incident, which happened yesterday, around 01 hours in Lusaka’s North mead market area.

Mr MWALE has identified the wounded police officer as Constable WAMUNYIMA MUBIANA, aged 24 of Paramilitary Battalion.

He also named the suspect as PUMULO MULIFE, aged 27, who is also under the Paramilitary Battalion.

Mr MWALE says preliminary investigations indicate that Officer MULIFE while on duty around North mead market area, shot at Officer MUBIANA, who sustained a gunshot wound on his right ear.

He added that Officer MUBIANA, who was not on duty at the time of the incident, is admitted to the University Teaching Hospital -UTH.

MULIFE has since been apprehended and is in custody, while investigations have been instituted to establish the cause of the shooting.
