Consumers warned of beverages packaged used bottles

The Livingstone City Council has advised members of the public to be cautious and avoid consuming uncertified water and other drinks packed in recycled plastic bottles.

Livingstone City Council Public Relations Manager, MELVIN MUKELA, says there is a need for people to prioritise public health by taking keen interest in what they consume.

Mr. MUKELA says the buying and consuming of uncertified water and other beverages such as Munkoyo and Chibwantu, packaged in recycled bottles, can have adverse effects on the consumer’s health.

Meanwhile, some of the traders selling drinks in recycled bottles have assured the public that their products are safe.

They have told ZNBC News that the recycled bottles are thoroughly cleaned before use.
