Concourt Judge Chibomba retires

Hannock Kasama-Constitutional Court President HILDAH CHIBOMBA has retired after a laborious career in the judiciary spanning 40 years.

Justice CHIBOMBA bade farewell to the judiciary yesterday.

Judiciary Public Relations Officer KALUMBA SLAVIN has confirmed Justice CHIBOMBA’s retirement in an interview with ZNBC News in Lusaka today.

Besides holding the Constitutional Court Presidency, Justice CHIBOMBA was a member of a number of professional associations, including the Zambia Association of Women Judges and International Association of Women Judges.

Justice CHIBOMBA was appointed to the Constitutional Court on March, 11 2016.

Prior to her appointment as Constitutional Court President Justice, CHIBOMBA served as Supreme Court Judge.

Her stints as judge date back to 1997 when she became High Court Judge.

Justice CHIBOMBA began her legal career path in the Judiciary as a Magistrate in 1982, but later cascaded to the Ministry of Justice in various senior positions before she reverted in judge’s capacity.

Justice CHIBOMBA holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Zambia and a Master of Laws degree from the University of Bristol in ENGLAND.

She was admitted to the bar in 1982.
