Column Coal Mine warned about mining near residential areas

Labour and Social Security Minister, BRENDA TAMBATAMBA, has advised Management at Column Coal Mine in Sinazongwe district, to ensure that mining operations are not conducted near residential areas.

Ms. TAMBATAMBA says this will help prevent serious health risks among the workers.

The minister said this when she inspected workers’ houses at the Collum Coal Mine during her continued Labour inspections in Southern province.

The Minister also advised management at the coal mine to improve the living conditions of the workers.

And Sinazongwe District Commissioner, NCHIMUNYA SIAKOLE, said reports of major accidents and fatalities have reduced at the Collum Coal Mine.
