CISCA Says Erecting Of Billboards On Bill 10 Will Not Reverse The Rejection Of The Bill By The General Public

By Lomphande Phiri

The Civil Society for Constitution Agenda (CISCA) says the backlash by various stakeholders on the Young African Leaders’ Initiative’s decision to put up billboards on Constitutional Amendment Bill 10 is a sign that Zambians have rejected the bill.

This follows YALI’S scaled up constitutional reform campaign activities by putting up billboards on bill 10 in various parts of the country to sensitize the general public on the bill, a move that has been condemned by concerned stakeholders.

CISCA Vice Chairperson Judith Mulenga says in as much as YALI has the right to scale up campaign in support of the bill, it will be parliament that will have the last say through members of parliament who represent the majority Zambians.

Ms Mulenga tells Phoenix News that the desperation by the organization to campaign for a bill that is being pushed by a selective few individuals is unfortunate.

She has further challenged the organization to make public its sponsorship for the billboards as its financial status is known by most civil society organizations.
