Chongwe to have improved water supply

Robert Mwanza-Government will soon construct a dam and several commercial boreholes to improve water supply to the residents of Chongwe.

Water Development, Sanitation and Environmental Protection Minister RAPHAEL NAKACHINDA says government wants the people of Chongwe to have access to clean drinking water.

Mr. NAKACHINDA says government will engage the traditional leadership in order to secure land for the construction of a dam and borehole.

The Minister said this when he paid a courtesy call on Chief Chieftainess NKOMENSHYA MUKAMAMBO the second in Chongwe this morning.

Whilst in Chongwe, the Minister also officiated at a tree planting exercise and called on Zambians to develop the culture of planting trees to avert effects the of climate change.

And Chieftainess NKOMESHA MUKAMAMBO the second has assured government of her support to programmes aimed at improving the lives of the people in the area.

Earlier, Mr. NAKACHINDA paid a courtesy call on Chongwe district Commissioner ROBSTER MWANZA.
