CHOMA EXPERIENCING FLASH FLOODS

(ZANIS) Ten houses have collapsed in Mwapona Compound in Choma following yesterday’s heavy rains.

District Commissioner SIKALEYA GAMELA has visited the affected households to assess the extent of the damage.

Mr. GAMELA has noted that the affected families will require humanitarian assistance which include food and shelter.

Choma has been experiencing flash floods since Wednesday resulting in houses being flooded while some streams have burst their banks.

In December last year, flash flood hit Mbabala area of Choma.

Atleast four people were killed by the floods.

One man who spent hours hanging on to a tree as an over-flooded river  ragged below him was rescued by members of the public.
