Chipolopolo To Camp In Spain Ahead Of Nigeria Clash

CHIPOLOPOLO will camp in Spain for two weeks before playing Nigeria in the penultimate 2018 Russia FIFA world cup qualifier match next month.

Chipolopolo are second in group with seven points after beating nemesis Algeria back-to-back last Saturday and on Tuesday, which put them three points behind Nigeria who lead group B with 10 points going into the crunch match on October 7.

FAZ president Andrew Kamanga disclosed in an interview that the CHAN and COSAFA team would camp in Spain where they would be joined by their Europe-based counterparts later before the team moves into Ghana for the final preparations and finally Nigeria for the match.

“We are obviously very confident with the performances of the team going into this very important match. That’s why we are focused on preparing the team well. We really want to give the team proper support going into the match,” said Kamanga, adding that his administration was not leaving anything to chance as the Nigeria match is a must-win.

“So we will send them to Europe for two week. These players who have been playing COSAFA and CHAN will go first and then their colleagues will join them, then we will move into Ghana for a week then go into Nigeria and fight to win because we believe we have a chance to go to the World Cup.”

And captain Kennedy Mweene said: “The game against Nigeria is all about preparation. I am confident we can win in Nigeria with adequate prep[aration]s like we had with Algeria. It will definitely be tough because it will be a do or die affair; we are three points behind which we can break. We have a good team that can do it. All the players have shown commitment and dedication. The morale is high in camp and that’s what gives us the motivation.”
