Chipimo Quits Politics

Opposition National Restoration Party -NAREP- founder and President Elias Chipimo has resigned as party president and quit active politics.Mr. Chipimo says he has decided to retire from active politics to pursue private interests.He says in the interim Party Vice President Administration Charles Maboshe will act as President until the party decides to elect new leaders.Mr. Chipimo is confident that the new leadership will carry on the vision of the party for the betterment of every citizen.He said he is however available to offer advice to the challenges the country is facing.Speaking during a Press briefing in Lusaka today, Mr. Chipimo said he hopes other politicians will learn to practice issue-based politics and offer solutions.Mr. Chipimo further said it is important for the people to realise that no one person can address the challenges the country is facing which is why it is important to look for opportunities and embrace entrepreneurs.He further advised politicians not to seek power at all costs but rather learn from his style of leadership that seeks to offer solutions.Mr. Chipimo also dispelled assertions that he decided to resign because he had been offered a job as Agriculture Minister.And, NAREP Acting President Charles Maboshe said the party thanked Mr. Chipimo.Mr. Maboshe appealed to President Edgar Lungu to invite him and other opposition party leaders for a meeting to discuss and suggest solutions to some of the challenges that the country is facing.He said the party will continue to be a part of the opposition political party alliance.The Party has also appointed, Frank Sichone as acting Spokesperson.
