Chipata City Council has encouraged ex inmates to form cooperatives and apply for Constituency Development Funds.

Chipata Mayor GEORGE MWANZA says the local authority does not segregate against any group in disbursing CDF.

Mr MWANZA says this through Dilika Ward Councillor FLORENCE JERE when Arise and Shine inter-denomination group donated clothes, foodstuffs, and small radios.

And Reverend JONATHAN BANDA says the group wants to continue giving hope to the inmates.

Rev BANDA said the inmates received the radios so that they could listen to religious programmes produced by the group on one of the local radio stations.

And, Eastern Province Correctional Service Chaplain Rev EDWIN SAKALA said the service is happy that the inmates will be connected to the word of God through the radios.
