Chipata Man Hangs Himself with Belt

A 27 year old man of Chipata’s Moth residential area has hanged himself with a belt and trousers after a domestic quarrel.

Maxwell Sakala committed suicide on Saturday night.

Sakala’s wife, Margaret Thawete said her husband went home drunk on Saturday night and started quarrelling with her after accusing her of having a love affair with another man.

Thawete said later her husband hanged himself using a belt and trousers around 20:56 hours.

She said all the efforts by her and their grandmother to rescue the deceased proved futile.

Thawete said her husband had been threatening to kill himself on more than four occasions.

She said police picked up the dead body on Saturday night.
