CHIKOTE REQUESTS FAO FUND VACCINATION PLANT

Fisheries and Livestock Minister MAKOZO CHIKOTE has called on the Food and Agriculture Organization -FAO- to consider funding a vaccination manufacturing plant in Zambia.

Mr. CHIKOTE says this will help mitigate the spread of livestock diseases in the Country.

He was speaking when FAO country representative paid a courtesy call on him at his office in Lusaka today.

Mr. CHIKOTE said the control and management of livestock diseases in the country is critical to the growth of the sector.

Meanwhile FAO country representative SUEZ PERCY FILIPPINI pledged unwavering support to the fisheries and livestock sector saying the organization is always available to support the Country.

Ms. FILIPPINI said the FAO has a long standing partnership with the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock as it has supported many sub sectors that include among others livestock disease control.

She further called on the Ministry to approach the organization for any other assistance as it deems fit.
