CHIKOTE CHALLENGES NORTHERN PROVINCE ON FOOD PRODUCTION

(ZANIS) Minister of Fisheries and Livestock MAKOZO CHIKOTE has challenged Northern Province to take advantage of the numerous water bodies to increase fisheries and livestock production.

Mr CHIKOTE says it is government desire to see the region increase the animal and fisheries production to greater heights so that it can start feeding the nation and the region.

He said government’s vision is to unlock the challenges livestock farmers are facing in order to change the economic narrative of the country in the livestock and fisheries sectors.

Mr CHIKOTE said this when he paid a courtesy call on Northern Province Minister LEONARD MBAO at his office in Kasama on Sunday..

And Mr MBAO has thanked Mr CHIKOTE for the commitment shown towards the development of fisheries and livestock sectors in the province.

Mr CHIKOTE is expected to tour Chipompo Livestock breeding center in Kasama and Mungwi Upper Lands where farmers are growing grass to provide feed for animals.

He is also expected to visit Kalungwishi ranch in Lunte district among other areas in the province.
