CHIEFTAINESS KAWAZA PRAISES GOVT FOR FREE EDUCATION

Chieftainess KAWAZA of the Chewa of Sinda and Katete districts in Eastern Province has praised government’s free education policy.

The traditional leader says before free education was implemented by the UPND government, many parents used to struggle to raise school fees for their children.

Chieftainess KAWAZA was speaking when Special Assistant to the President – Political Affairs, LEVY NGOMA paid a courtesy call on her at the palace in Katete district.

Meanwhile, Mr. NGOMA said President HICHILEMA does NOT want to have a relationship with Chiefs only for electoral purposes.

Mr NGOMA also visited Senior Chief MBANG’OMBE of Sinda and Katete districts.

He said President HICHILEMA sent him into Eastern Province to visit chiefs and carry out other strategic programmes.

Mr NGOMA added that the President will soon be meeting with Chiefs, per province, so that he can hear more about the socio-economic plight of people in their chiefdoms.

He further said the government will endeavour to provide transport and build decent palaces for chiefs countrywide.

Mr. NGOMA also stressed the benefits of free education that has been introduced by the UPND government.

And Chief MBANG’OMBE also praised Government for the policies especially the free education policy.
