CHIEF MUMENA HAILS KK FOR UPHOLDING TRADITION

(ZANIS) Chief Mumena of Kalumbila district in North-western province has paid tribute to first president, Kenneth Kaunda for maintaining the institution of chieftainship after the country’s independence.

Chief Mumena says other countries abolished the chieftainship but Dr. Kaunda maintained it because he valued traditional leaders and culture.

The Chief says North-Western province will remember Dr. Kaunda for the time he spent with them in Kabompo in 1959 when he was restricted to a house by the colonial masters in what is today called the Kabompo house.

The traditional leader said this in an interview with ZANIS in Solwezi today.
