Chief Chinunda Demands set up of Police Post in his Chiefdom

Security concerns in Chief Chinunda’s chiefdom in Eastern Province have reached breaking point with the traditional leader of the Chewa people demanding for the construction of a police post.

Chief Chinunda said the nearest police post is at Mgubudu which was far from his area.

He said recently a wife of a teacher at Chiziye Primary School was brutally murdered while the teacher was badly beaten.

Chief Chinunda said the bad road network and poor communication was also affecting the area.

But Eastern Province permanent secretary Chanda Kasolo assured the

traditional leader that government would attend to the issues that he raised.

Kasolo said Chipangali district would benefit from the 200 communication towers that government allocated to the province.

The chief was speaking at the official hand over of Chinunda Mothers’

Shelter and Maternity Annex at Chinunda clinic of Tuesday.
