CHIEF CHIBESAKUNDA PRAISES GOVT

Chief Chibesakunda of the Bisa people in Shiwang’andu district has praised government for providing a conducive environment for the development of the fisheries and livestock sectors.

The Traditional leader says the royal establishment has taken advantage of the opportunities and established an integrated fish farming project that will benefit his chiefdom.

Chief Chibesakunda says the project will set up a central breeding facility at the palace for fingerlings.

He disclosed that 4 multi-purpose cooperatives have already been formed as out growers.

Chief Chibesakunda was speaking when Fisheries and Livestock minister Nkandu Luo and Home Affairs minister Stephen Kampyongo paid a courtesy call on him at his palace.

And Professor Luo said government has decided to empower communities through the cooperative model to create wealth in the country.

Professor Luo said most industrialized and strong economies have developed through cooperatives.

She appealed to traditional leaders to take an interest and participate in government empowerment programmes as they are key stakeholders to the development of the nation.

Meanwhile Mr. Kampyongo appealed to the ministry of Fisheries and Livestock to consider Shiwang’andu as one of the places for cage fish farming.

Mr. Kampyongo who is also Shiwang’andu Member of Parliament said his area is endowed with abundant naturals resources such as rivers and lakes suitable for cage fish farming.
