CHESS: Zambia wins five of the seven games

Zambia has won five out of seven games in the first round at the ongoing Africa Individual Chess Championship in Nigeria.

All four male players won their respective games while in the female category only NAMAKAU LIKANDO won while BERTHA PHIRI drew with CONSTANCE MBANTHA losing.

Heading into the second round today it will be an all Zambian Affair when PRINCE MULENGA plays NASE LUNGU.

Zambia’s RICHMOND PHIRI will be up against DONALDO PAIVA from Mozambique while TIMOTHY KABWE has a tough test against Egyptian Grand master ABDELRAHMAN HESHAM.

And speaking to ZNBC Sports news Chess Federation of Zambia President MUKUBULO CHILUFYA is confident the team will be equally impressive in the second round.
