Chasefu independent Mp supports govt anto graft drive
ZANIS— Chasefu Independent Member of Parliament Misheck Nyambose has reaffirmed his commitment to work with President Hakainde Hichilema and the United Party for National Development (UPND) to ensuring zero tolerance to corruption.
Mr. Nyambose says he will not tolerate corruption in service delivery but ensure that transparency is the corner stone of development in Chasefu District.
He says a meaningful development can be attained in the area once people refrain from corrupt activities and focus on fostering development.
And Mr. Nyambose has disclosed that government has increased by 300 thousand metric tonnes of maize to be bought at Food Reserve Agency (FRA) from the initial 500 thousand metric tons announced earlier.
He urged peasant farmers who were left out to sell their maize grain to FRA as government is ready to buy their produce.
But Mr. Nyambose warned that he will not tolerate well to do people to take advantage of the poor in accessing empty grain bags that government has dispatched to all FRA depots in the district.
He says the empty grain bags must be accessed by farmers on first come first save basis.
The Chasefu law maker was speaking when he handed over television entertainment system, a solar lighting power battery for a mother’s shelter, blankets and 30 doses of coartem he donated to Chasefu Rural Health Centre, valued over K10 thousand.
Speaking at the same function, both Acting Chasefu District Commissioner, Diana Lupiya and District Health Director Dr Musamba Muyinda thanked the area MP for the gesture, which they said was a step in the right direction towards development.
Dr. Muyinda further revealed that there has been no maternal cases recorded at the facility for a long time now, adding that the gesture will retain hope in community members.
Meanwhile, Senior Group Village Headman Chiswa, John Mumba, has appealed to the MP to rehabilitate the roof of Chasefu health facility and staff houses which he said were in a deplorable state.
