CHANDA ORDERS PROBE ON CALCIUM WATER

By Christopher Miti-Water Development Minister Jonas Chanda has instructed the Eastern Water and Sanitation Company to provide a detailed report to the ministry explaining how the presence of calcium has been affecting the provision of water in Petauke District.

Dr. Chanda says there is need to conduct tests on the impact of calcium on the lives of the people.

He says a lasting solution has to be found because the problem has persisted for over five years.

Dr. Chanda says the Company should also engage the Water sanitation firm in North Western Province and find out how they handled the problem of iron in Solwezi District.

He said this this when he visited the company offices to find out reports that people have not been having water because of the presence of calcium in Petauke District.

And Eastern Water and Sanitation Company acting managing director Aaron Mulinda explained that several laboratory tests have been conducted regarding the presence of calcium in the water.
