Chambeshi happy with facilities in Morocco, expecting foreign-based players next week…As Kabwe calls on fans to rally behind the team

Zambia national team coach Beston Chambeshi is happy with the facilities in Morocco where the Chipolopolo Boys have camped for 10 days ahead of the Mauritania clash.

Chambeshi has expressed happiness with the way his team has settled in Morocco. He went on to assure the fans that the team is working very hard.

“We are happy with the way the boys have settled and we are looking forward to the game in Mauritania which is good for us,” Chambeshi told FAZ Media.

“I am happy with the training facilities here; we have been received very well which is good. We are working on many aspects of the game.”

“Fans have to believe in this team and for sure we are working very hard to make sure we smile at them. All we need to do is focus here,” he added.

The 2017 U-20 AFCON winner has also revealed that foreign-based players will be expected after they feature for their respective teams this weekend.

“We have been communicating to the foreign-based players, I have spoken to Evans Kangwa, Patson Daka, and others. They are ready and will join us, they are waiting to fulfill their fixtures this week and by Monday next week we will receive one or two,” he said.

Meanwhile, Midfielder Rodrick Kabwe has called on the fans to rally behind the team.

“We expect fans to rally behind us as football is a group type of sport, we expect them to be together with us,” Kabwe said.

“We urge them to rally behind us and continue supporting as we need their support as much as we are the ones playing, the fans are important.”

Kabwe revealed that the competition in the team was high and believes the arrival of the foreign-based players is going to be a big boost.

“Competition is high, everyone wants to play, everyone wants to earn a spot in the team. we are trying our best to win the first game. the first game is very important,” he said.

“It will be a huge boost once the other players come, we expect them to reach the level where we are in as much as we know where they are coming from, playing a high-level football in Europe, the English Premiership is in of the toughest league in the world and others like Fashion playing in Scotland. It will be a very big boost for the team,” he added.

Zambia will be away in Nouakchott on September 3 before hosting Tunisia four days later in Ndola in back-to-back Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The Chipolopolo are in Group B with Tunisia, Mauritania, and Equatorial Guinea.

Group winners will join nine other teams on the continent in the final qualifying round that will see teams paired in two-legged knockout ties.

The five winners will qualify for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.
