Chabinga blames derby loss on ‘no show’ key players as Mutapa insists Power are still a work in progress

Nkana head coach Manfred Chabinga attributed his team’s loss to Power Dynamos on Sunday in the Kitwe derby to ‘out of form’ key players who did not show up to the party.

Chabinga told reporters in a post-match interview that Nkana’s key players did not show up which was a sign that the team could not win the match.

“We know somehow there was that complacency, If you look at our midfield especially our key players they were out of form and not even one gave us hope of coming back which is a sign that you will not win the game,” he said.

“In every team, there are key players and if they are not there what do you expect? This is the result,” he added.

His Power Dynamos counterpart Perry Mutapa, on the other hand, believes Power Dynamos is far from being an oiled machine despite their three-match winning run which has seen them hand both Zanaco and Nkana 3-0 defeats.

The former Forest Rangers boss believes Power dynamos lacks depth and needs to reinforce in January.

“I don’t think so because there is a lot of work to be done. Football is a game of chances, We scored first and the confidence was high. We kept the possession well but I think there is a lot of work to be done,” he said.

” Nothing has changed, There are some quality players at Power but obviously we don’t have the depth to take out Larry, Luka and Benson you need depth. We need all players at training fighting for positions. At Power, I can say we don’t have that depth if we can get some players in January it will be good. Yes, we have won but we don’t have that depth.”

Luka Chamanga opened the scores three minutes to half time while Davy Daka and Fred Mulambia scored in the second stanza to give Power Dynamos an empathic 3-0 win over Nkana and send them to seventh place on the log.

The win was Power Dynamos’ 13th in their last 29 meetings with Nkana recording a 45% win rate in the Kopala derby compared to Nkana’s 21%
