CENTRAL PROVINCE HEADED FOR MAIZE BUMPER HARVEST

By Robert Mwanza:

Chief Chamuka of the Lenje people of Central province has predicted a maize bumper harvest this year in the area.

The traditional leader says this is because of the good agriculture policies that have seen inputs delivered on time.

Chief Chamuka has encouraged government to continue delivering inputs early as it will ensure food security for the people especially those in rural areas.

And Chief Chamuka has pledged to continue preaching peace, love and unity as the country goes to the polls this August.

He has also praised President Edgar Lungu and his government for the COVID-19 empowerment scheme to Churches which he says has been received well in his Chiefdom.

Chief Chamuka said this when National Guidance and Religious Affairs Minister Godfridah Sumaili paid a courtesy call on him in Kabwe.

And Reverend Sumaili told the Chief that the COVID-19 empowerment scheme which will continue even after the August general election is purely meant for the clergy, just like any sector that has benefited from such in the past.

The Minister also hailed the Traditional leader for his commitment in spearheading programs aimed at uplifting the girl child.
