CDF GUIDELINES PUBLISHED

Government has launched the Constituency Development Fund -CDF, Guideline documents which provide direction on the management, disbursement, utilization and accountability of the money.

Local Government and Rural Development Minister GARY NKOMBO who launched the documents in Livingstone today called on councils to depoliticize the disbursement of the funds.

Mr. NKOMBO said the successful implementation of CDF projects must be devoid of political interference to avoid the exclusion of deserving beneficiaries.

He also encouraged controlling officers in local authorities to strictly adhere to timely delivery of projects, ensure projects are of high quality and that there is no compromise in the market index.

Speaking at the same event, Secretary to the Treasury FELIX NKULUKUSA said the government will ensure increased decentralization of local authority functions to effectively manage the CDF.
