CDF ACT MAY BE AMENDED-NZOVU

By Michael Kaumba

NANGOMA Member of Parliament COLLINS NZOVU says lawmakers may amend Constituency Development Fund -CDF- ACT to get rid of delays in approving developmental projects by officials tasked to do so.

And Mr. NZOVU has warmed that he will not tolerate the slow approval of projects for his area by bickering officials at the MUMBWA District Council saying time for politics is over.

He says CDF is meant to take development closer to the people but arguments among some officials are hindering the commencement of projects even when funds are available.

Mr. NZOVU, who is also Green Economy and Environment Minister, says CDF is a major component of the UPND’s development agenda to devolve power to the people and the government will ensure that this is achieved at all cost.

The Green Economy Minister spoke when he handed over a grader worth 2.8-million Kwacha to his constituency.

And MUMBWA District Deputy Council Chairperson LANDSON SANGWAPO said the district now has two graders and this will help in improving the road network in the area.

At the same occasion NANGOMA CDF Committee Vice Chairperson JUDITH KATEBE said the constituency is set for more developmental projects following the increase in CDF allocation.
