CASSAVA BROWN STEAK VIRUS DETECTED

University Teaching Sanatorium -UTH- Health Skilled Ravi Paul has told the final public to be cautious with the consumption of cassava.
This follows the announcement by the Ministry of Agriculture over a virulent disease of Cassava brown steak virus in Luapula, Northern and North-western provinces.
In an interview with ZNBC news, Dr. Paul explained that once the cassava is consumed, the virus has outcomes on the human body.
He highlighted among them paralytic illness, irregular habits, and never-ending headaches.
On Monday, Agriculture Minister Michael Katambo confirmed the outbreak of Cassava Brown steak virus.
Mr. Katambo acknowledged the illness is a threat to the country’s food security which skill of cassava is the second main food slice after maize.
