Cardiff City wonder-kid happy to be home

Cardiff City U-18 winger Ntazana ‘Taz’ Mayembe says he is happy to be home after joining camp on Sunday following his first national team call-up.

The Welsh-born winger who is part of coach Micho’s 36 member squad for the June FIFA window-friendly matches explained that when Zambia approached him he quickly jumped on the chance to play for his motherland.

Ntazana has made international appearances for both England and Wales at the schoolboy level and is very influential for the Cardiff City U18 side.

“It feels good to be home, It was a long flight but once I got here I was relieved, I was happy, I have not been home in 11 years, It is such a long time, Being here seeing my family made me smile, gave me a boost and hoping to get it into the games and training, it’s very good to be home,” he said.

“It was difficult purely because am looking to help my country out, When Zambia stepped in and said they were serious about giving me an opportunity, Without a doubt, I said yeah, I’m coming home.”

“I spoke to the coach before the call-up and he explained the situation and said he will give me the chance and without a doubt, I decided to come back home,” he added.

The Chipolopolo Boys will face Senegal in an international friendly match on June 5th, Benin on June 8th and then they are expected to proceed to Omdurman to play Sudan on June 10.
