CAF CL: Al Merreikh v Zanaco to take place in Egypt

Zambia’s remaining representative in the CAF Champions League, Sensational ZANACO will play their first leg of the second preliminary round against Sudanese outfit, Al-Merreikh in Egypt, the club has confirmed.

According to a post on the ZANACO social media pages, Sudanese stadiums are not qualified for this competition.

“The first leg encounter against Al Merreikh of the second leg preliminary round of CAF Champions League will be played at Suez Stadium in Suez, Egypt on 16th October 2021 at 19:00 (GMT+2).

This is after the African Union excluded all Sudanese stadiums on the pretext that they are not qualified.”

Al Merreikh advanced to the next round after a 1-nil home victory over Express FC of Uganda at Shikan Castle Stadium in Obeid, Sudan. The CECAFA Kagame Champions advanced on away goals rule after a 2-2 aggregate.

The Second Leg of the second preliminary round will take place between 22-24 October 2021.
