“CAF CHAMPIONS CAMPAIGN DISASTROUS”

Former Football Association of Zambia Vice President Boniface Mwamelo has described the performance by Zambian clubs in the CAF Champions and Confederation tournaments as disastrous.
Mwamelo has since called for a postmortem on the poor performance in continental games by Zambian Clubs.
The Former FAZ Vice President says it is unacceptable that Zambian clubs with their caliber can fail to qualify to the group stages of the competitions.
Mwamelo told ZNBC Sports in a telephone interview that throughout the years, it has been the same results from Zambian envoys in CAF competitions.
He also urged teams to prepare thoroughly for continental games through strengthening their respective teams with high profile players during the transfer widow.
And veteran football administrator Marsha Chilemena has also expressed disappointment with the performance of Zambian teams in the continental games.
Chilemena said football fans will slowly lose interest in football if teams continue to be mediocre.
He said it is wrong for coaches to say the teams played well when they failed to qualify to the group stages.
Chilemena has also advised sponsors of the various teams to consider taking the coaches to international coaching schools to improve the playing standards.
