Bridge repairs to start next month

Mwila Nsofu-Ministry of Infrastructure Housing and Urban Development Permanent Secretary DANNY MFUNE says the implementation of the Second Pilot project on the repair of bridges is expected to start in April 2022.

And Mr. MFUNE says the routine maintenance on bridges in six provinces is expected to start in the second or third quarter of 2022.

This is part of the roll out programme which will be done in Western, North Western, Luapula, Central, Muchinga and Eastern provinces.

Mr. MFUNE says currently the routine maintenance roll out programme on selected bridges is underway in Southern, Copperbelt and Northern provinces.

He says Lusaka is excluded because it was part of the phase one of the project which was implemented on selected bridges on the trunk, main and District roads between 2015 and 2017.

Mr MFUNE said this in a speech read on his behalf by Assistant Director Planning AARON MUTALE, during the third JICA Joint Cooperation Committee meeting in Lusaka.
