Boxer Evaristo Punches his Way to Quarter Finals

By Joy Siatubi-Zambia’s Evaristo Mulenga is the latest boxer to storm the quarter finals of the ongoing All Africa games.Mulenga outclassed Tunisia’s Mhamdi Bilel 5-0 on unanimous points in the 57kg featherweight category in Rabat yesterday.This brings to three, the number of Zambian boxers who have qualified to the quarter finals, after Mbachi Kaonga and Nkumbu Silungwe.Evaristo is now scheduled to meet Ndevelo Tryagain of Namibia in the last eight on Monday.Meanwhile, the quarter final stage starts today, with Mbachi fighting Samed Shakul of Ghana in the 81kg light heavyweight category.Silungwe will meet Djedoubom Idriss of the Democratic Republic of Congo in the 69kg welterweight category.And the Equestrian team representing Zambia at the games has come out overall fifth at their first attempt, out of six countries that took part.And Zambian swimmers have wound up their participation at the All Africa games, with all four of the country’s representatives scoring their personal best records on the final day, in the 50 meters free style.In the following report, we break down the weekend’s events in different sporting disciplines for team Zambia.
