Be wary of unscrupulous training centers -Teveta

Technical Education Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training Authority -TEVETA – has urged unsuspecting members of the public to be wary of some unscrupulous illegal training institutions.

TEVETA Director General CLEOPHAS TAKAIZA has told ZNBC NEWS in a statement that the authority has continued to receive numerous complaints from youths that have been recruited in some of the illegal training institutions.

Mr TAKAIZA says some illegal training institutions across the country are recruiting students in different programmes in a bid to access the bursary support from the Constituency Development Fund [CDF] without accreditation.

He has appealed to the Local Authorities to be on alert and ensure that before any training institution is awarded the CDF skills bursary, they produce Certificates of accreditation from TEVETA as well as a list of accredited programmes before enrolling the
youths.

Mr TAKAIZA says all illegal training institutions uttering false documents purporting to be registered with TEVETA risk prosecution as doing so is against the law.

He said that TEVETA is committed to continuously collaborate with different stakeholders in its mission to regulate, monitor and coordinate Technical Education, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training to ensure sustainable supply of skilled labour force.
