Baton dropped, women’s team disqualified

AFTER leading the 4x100m women relay, Hellen Makumba, who was the third runner, failed to keep the pace for Zambia as she dropped the baton to earn her team disqualification from the final of the ongoing Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) senior championships in Nigeria.Abigail Sepiso, who replaced Suwilanji Mpondela in the relay team after being diagnosed with malaria, set the tone for Zambia before handing the baton to Rhodah Njobvu, who maintained the pace, only for Makumba to mess up and hand Nigeria the win.
