Barbra Banda trains with Orlando Pride teammates for the first time

Zambia Women’s National captain Barbra Banda has begun her life in the United States following her big money move last month.

Banda joined her new teammates in training earlier today for the first time since Orlando Pride completed her move from Chinese Women’s Super League side Shanghai Shengli.

Banda arrived in Orlando on Sunday to a thunderous welcome with Orlando fans, Zambians, Zambian Embassy officials and club officials teaming up to welcome the Zambian golden girl.

Banda could make her debut for Orlando on Saturday as they welcome San Diego Wave at the 25,500 capacity, Exploria Stadium.

Banda last month completed her switch to Orlando Pride on a four year deal from Shanghai Shengli.

Banda joined the Pride following a $740,000 transfer fee making her the second most expensive female football player in history behind teammate Rachel Kundananji.

In total, the Pride’s signing of Banda marked one of the largest all-in investments on a player in National Women’s Soccer League history.

Banda is expected to be one of the highest paid players in the National Women’s Soccer League.

Banda’s deal includes a number of incentives and bonuses which makes it one of the biggest investments in Women’s Football.

Banda is known for her knack for goals scoring 43 in 53 games for Shanghai Shengli and she is also the Copper Queens all time goalscorer with 52 goals in 53 matches.
