Barbra Banda scores in Orlando Pride’s victory over Spirits

Barbra Banda scored her debut goal in the National Women’s Super League on Saturday in Orlando Pride’s 3-2 away victory over Washington Spirits.

The Copper Queens star was also involved in the other two goals as she assisted and created a penalty.

With Brazil’s Marta out with a knock, the 24 year old was handed her first start and she did not disappoint.

In the 22nd minute, Barbra showed that she is not just a goal scoring machine but also a team player after she set up Angelina for Pride’s opener.

Striker Ouleymata Sarr equalised for the home just before the break.

After the break, Banda headed home her first goal for Pride to restore their lead.

Four minutes later in the 55th minute, the Zambian won Pride a penalty after she was fouled.

Summer Yates scored from the spot to make it 3-1.

Ashley Hatch pulled one back for Washington Spirits to set up a tense final 25 minutes.

Orlando Pride were reduced to a woman down after Brianna Martinez was sent off in injury time.

Pride have picked up 12 points from a possible 18, and third of the log.

North Carolina are the next opponents on Thursday.
