Asanovic picks up his first win as Copper Bullets thrash Congo

Scottish based defender Frankie Musonda scored a debut goal as Zambia beat Congo Brazaville 3-1 in a friendly on Friday in Antalya, Turkey.

Skipper Enock Mwepu gave the lead Zambia from the spot after Lameck Banda was brought down in the box.

Two minutes later, Russian based midfield maestro Kings Kangwa scored arguably the goal of the match.

Kings picked up the ball on the left side and played one-two with Clatous Chama, and then the 21 year old found Mwepu in the pocket.

Mwepu then found Klings on the move in the 18 yard before the youngster sent goalkeeper  Christopher Mafoumbi into the wrong direction.

Guy Mbeza pulled one from the spot after Rodrick Kabwe had fouled him from behind.

After the break, Zambia almost destroyed all the fluid attacking football they displayed in the first half as they became disjointed.

The Copper bullets held on to their 2-1 lead and a minute after the hour mark following Mwepu’s substitution, debutant Musonda scored the third to calm the nerves.

Thereafter it was about control as Zambia coach Aljosa Asanovic went to a low block 4-5-1 formation.

Zambia plays Benin on Sunday in another friendly while Congo will face Sierra Leone.
