APPOINTMENT OF -PPP- COUNCIL GOOD FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

By Michael Kaluba

The Kitwe and District Chamber Of Commerce and Industry says the appointment of the public-private partnership-PPP- council of ministers is welcome as long as it adds value to the country’s economic development.

Chamber Vice President in-charge of commerce Emmanuel Mbambiko says while it is important for government to appoint as many great minds to various councils, boards and other relevant bodies, these appointments must be done objectively and to add value to the country’s economic recovery.

Mr. Mbambiko tells Phoenix News that these must come with more benefits to the country than the cost especially that the national coffers are reportedly empty, the economy limping and the country needing every resource to get back on track.

He adds that the government must ensure it assesses the cost against the benefits before making any appointments and that all the appointments work in tandem with the economic recovery plan to the benefit of citizens.

President Hakainde Hichilema recently has appointed the Public-Private Partnerships Council of Ministers which includes minister of Finance, minister of Infrastructure, Commerce, Trade and Industry minister, Transport and Logistics minister and minister of Technology and science with 4 other none cabinet members appointments.
