ANGLICAN PRIEST ASSAULTED- POLICE

An Anglican priest has sustained swollen lips after being assaulted on the pulpit by one of the church members in Lusaka’s Kalingalinga Compound.

This happened today around 10 hours when the Priest was preaching on the pulpit.

Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo says the priest whose names have been withheld was allegedly assaulted by a Church member identified as Mwale over a church car space.

Mrs. Katongo says the accused went to the pulpit where he ordered the priest to stop preaching but he resisted causing him to punch the priest on the face.

She says investigations have also revealed that the priest has allegedly been calling for Church elections which have angered other church members.

Ms Katongo says Police have since launched a man hunt for Mwale who is currently on the run.
