Albino girl, seven, kidnapped by bandits who cut off her hand for “WITCHCRAFT”, police say
THREE unknown criminals in Kitwe’s Mutupa farming area have chopped off the hand of a 7-year old albino female child and have run away with it.
The incident happened on Wednesday around 24:00 hours in Mutupa farming area, Chantente Ward, across the Kafue River in Kitwe.
Copperbelt Police Commissioner Charity Katanga confirmed in a statement that unknown criminals forced their way through the window into the bedroom where the victim was sleeping with the sister.
She said the criminals forcibly dragged the victim who is also a grade one pupil at Mutupa Community School, outside into the nearby bush and had her left hand chopped off slightly above the elbow.
Katanga said  the victim’s parent whilst asleep in their bedroom around 24:00 hours, heard their children who were sleeping in the other bedroom screaming for help and when they woke up to check they saw three unknown men armed with a machete running towards the nearby bush with their 7-year old albino daughter.
She said the criminals chopped off the girl’s hand when they heard her parents scream for help.
And Katanga said the victim in admitted in the Kitwe Teaching Hospital awaiting to undergo a surgery while police have opened an inquiry file in the matter.
