Albert Kangwanda: The next big thing

By Patson Kawewe | April 9, 2020

Having started out his football career at the Police sponsored side Young Nkwazi football club, the young Kafue Celtic enterprising midfielder has gone out to become one of the finest players at Kafue Celtic in recent years.

Born on 7th April 1999, Albert Kangwanda has already had a test of the Zambian Super League when he played for Red Arrows Football Club in the 2017 and 2018 season. Other Clubs he has played for are, Lusaka City Council FC and Lwanshya Youth Academy.

He currently has 11 goals with 22 assists in the 2019/20 season despite playing from midfield which shows how determined he is going forward, such goal-scoring exploits caught the eye of Chipolopolo New Coach Micho as he was summoned to the Chipolopolo local squad.

“My experience under coach Micho was great because he has taught me how to overcome some things mostly a footballer’s faces, playing away or on a big stage things such as; weather, the crowd, and referees. Other things have learned are how to quickly turn defense into attack and from an attack, you defend, in short (transition) as a midfielder I think that has strengthened my sharpness and quickness on the ball,” he told the Zamfoot Crew.

He was part of the Zambia U20 National Team that reached the semi-finals of the 2018 Cosafa Championships in Kitwe losing to Zimbabwe though he was ruled out having twisted his ankle during the tournament.

He was also part of the Zambia U20 squad that failed to qualify for the Afcon 2019 losing to Burundi in the last round of qualifiers.

The enterprising midfielder is a darling to watch in the Eden University National League and we will definitely see him in the Zambia colors very soon.
