The African Development Bank (AfDB) has pledged commitment to work with the Zambian government to empower small holder farmers to drive the diversification of the agricultural sector.

AfDB Senior Agriculture Officer, LEWIS BANGWE says the bank is happy with the support aimed at fostering diversification in the agriculture sector.

Mr BANGWE has further expressed the bank’s commitment to overcoming challenges, such as the absence of an artificial insemination platform.

He said this during his visit to Mbala District.

And Outgoing Mbala Livestock Cooperative Society chairperson, LAWRENCE KALIWANDA reported that 146 farmers in the district have benefited from the initiative.

He said the farmers were selected from three different camps, namely Mbala Central, Kawimbe, and Masamba.

Mr KALIWANDA further called on the bank to extend assistance to the youth and women to enable them to embrace livestock farming as a viable source of employment and livelihood.
