Advantage Zesco after week five

Zesco United had to endure a hard afternoon against a spirited NAPSA Stars side on Sunday, The Zambia Super League defending champions had to enter third gear to cruise past the pensioners 3-2 and remain unbeaten.

Clement Mwape, Quadri Kola and Umaru Kasumba scored the goals for Zesco while NAPSA Stars got their goals through a rejuvenated Bornwell Mwape who netted a brace.

Zesco has now gone four games without a loss and is currently second on the log table with a game in hand against Power Dynamos set for this weekend. With Red Arrows also still unbeaten in five games Zesco however, could go top with two points if they manage to collect three points against the struggling Abayellow side.

It’s now advantaged zesco with rivals like Nkana and Zanaco dropping points.

It looks to be a long season for Zesco and a heavy schedule with Team ya Ziko still taking part in the CAF Champions league.

It’s only October and there are still a lot of games to play but getting points from teams around you and those above or close to you dropping points is an advantage.

After the Charity shield loss to Zanaco, Head coach George Lwandamina said his side should not be judged by that result as they could go all the way and win a fourth title in a row. It is still early days but Zesco United is on the right track.
