Action for Patson Daka and Enock Mwepu in UCL playoff win

Zambian duo of striker Patson Daka and midfielder Enock Mwepu put in good shifts for their club Redbull Salzburg who moved a step closer to a second consecutive UEFA Champions League group stage appearance following a 2-1 win away in Israel.

Daka started upfront leading the line alongside Mergïm Berisha while Mwepu partnered Antoine Bernede in the middle of the park.

Salzburg started strong with Hungarian teenage sensation Dominik Szoboszlai forcing a save from Brazilian goalkeeper Daniel Miller Tenenbaum who needed to stretch to keep out Dominik’s free-kick.

The hosts however took the lead against the run of play nine minutes into the match as Dan Biton chipped Cican Stankovic who was miles away from his goal after being set up by Eylon Haim Almog.

Salzburg continued to dominate the match and controlled the match, Mwepu came close but Tenenbaum was again equal to the task. The first half finished with Maccabi leading 1-0, Jesse Marsch forced to make a substitution before the start of the second half, Sekou Koita in for Berisha.

Salzburg finally leveled matters, Three minutes into the second half, Patson Daka was tripped in the box, The referee Michael Oliver pointed to the spot, Szoboszlai stepped up and converted despite Tenenbaum going the right way.

The Austrian Bundesliga defending Champions took the lead for the first time in the match eight minutes later as Sekou Koita did well to set up Masaka Okugawa for an easy tap in, 1-2.

Maccabi pushed for an equalizer towards the end of the match but Stankovic was equal to the task, 2-1 the match ended. Salzburg will host Maccabi Tel Aviv at the Redbull Arena.
