Action for Daka as Leicester City are dumped out of the FA Cup

Zambian star forward Patson Daka played the last 45 minutes as Leicester City exited the Emirates FA Cup after a 4-1 fourth-round shock defeat by Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Sunday afternoon.

Brendan Rogers decided to start the Zambian international on the bench with Kelechi Iheanacho leading the line following his return from the Africa Cup of Nations.

It was a poor start for the Foxes from the word go and Nottingham Forest were three nil up within the first 32 minutes.

Philip Zinkernagel opened the scores in the 23rd minute with a close range finish. Brennan Johnson doubled the lead a minute later after benefitting from a Daniel Amartey poor back pass.

Joe Warrall made it 3-0 in the 32nd minute with a brilliant headed goal to mount more misery on the Foxes.

Iheanacho pulled one back for Leicester City in the 40th minute to make sure the match went to the break with Forest only having a two goal advantage.

Rogers introduced Daka at the start of the second stanza and almost immediately made an impact as he created a chance for James Madison but the Englishman placed his attempt agonisingly wide of Samba’s left-hand post.

Seconds after he created an opportunity, Daka lifted over an attempt of his own after being teed up by Iheanacho.

Leicester tried to force their way back into the match but Nottingham Forest held on to win the East Midlands derby, 4-1 dumping the holders out of the oldest cup competition.

City’s attentions return to the Premier League on Thursday, when they travel to Merseyside to tackle Liverpool at Anfield (7:45pm kick-off).

Then, they host West Ham United at King Power Stadium on Sunday (4:30 pm kick-off).
