ACTION-AID PROMOTES SMART AGRICULTURE

By Christopher Miti:

Action -Aid has urged the farming community in Eastern Province to work together in preserving the forests and promote smart agriculture.

Action-Aid Eastern Provincial coordinator Evans Mupila says the community should ensure it derives a livelihood from the forests which they have preserved.

He says Action-Aid will continue working with partners like the Swedish embassy in the promotion of smart agriculture and preserving forests.

Mr. Mupila was speaking when he led a delegation from the Swedish Embassy to Kanyanja area in Chipata District and Mwambula village in Petauke District to check on how farmers are adhering to good farming practices and preserving forests in light of climate change.

And Programme Manager, Development Cooperation, Environment and Renewable energy at the Swedish embassy Magdalena Svensson pledged her country’s continued cooperation with Zambia on matters of climate change and many others.
