Access To Information law coming by June-Kasanda

The Access to information law will be enacted by June this year.

Information and Media Minister CHUSHI KASANDA says Cabinet agreed to the Roadmap leading to the enactment of the Access to Information Bill by June.
Ms KASANDA says Government will ensure that adequate consultations are undertaken with all stakeholders, ahead of the enactment of the Access to Information Bill.

The minister said in a statement to ZNBC in Lusaka that Cabinet is fully aware that the enactment of the Bill will enhance the fight against corruption and support efforts towards rational utilisation of public resources.

The approval of the road map is among the seven cabinet resolutions made on Monday.

And On electricity generation, Ms KASANDA says cabinet is resolved to ensure that the situation improves by way of reducing load management country-wide.

Ms KASANDA said Cabinet further noted the need for the country to seriously address the issue of renewable energy sources as priority to resolving the electricity challenges, going forward.

Meanwhile Ms KASANDA says cabinet resolved that the implementation of the private sector led Bulk Petroleum Supply system is key to adequate fuel supply in the country.

She says cabinet is of the view that electricity and fuel are instrumental in actualizing economic growth .
