ACC to appeal against Lubinda’s Acquittal

The Anti Corruption Commission -ACC- will appeal against the acquittal of Former Justice Minister GIVEN LUBINDA on the charge of possession of properties deemed to be proceeds of crime.

ACC Head Corporate Communications, TIMOTHY MOONO said at a media briefing in LUSAKA today that the Commission is studying the court judgment, before launching an appeal.

Mr. LUBINDA was yesterday acquitted of the charge of possession of properties, deemed to be proceeds of crime, amounting to over 200,000 dollars.

And the ACC has in the last three months seized 68 motor vehicles, valued at over 41-million Kwacha, in connection with various cases under investigations.

Mr MOONO said an additional 25 motor vehicles, valued at 20- million Kwacha, were forfeited to the state.

He explained that the motor vehicles were recovered during investigations and later forfeited to the state, after the expiration of a Gazette Notice for the owners to claim them.
